Interface Design

The control system user interface is where the presenter or operator and a complex audiovisual system interact. An effective interface design makes a powerful and complicated audiovisual system user friendly and easy to operate.

Control Concepts, Inc. is serious about control system interface design for touchpanels and remote controls. A user’s reaction to an audiovisual system is based on their comfort level with the user interface. For this reason, Control Concepts subscribes to InfoComm International’s Dashboard for Controls, a comprehensive guideline of interface design principles and applications for the audiovisual systems industry.

In conjunction with the themes and templates defined in InfoComm’s Dashboard for Controls, Control Concepts’ Graphic Designers refer to studies of human interface design and the concepts of human factors to create a graphical user interface (GUI) that is functional, scalable, visually appealing, and user friendly.

Control Concepts designs include the following standard features:

Typical Control Concepts designs are based on a three color set used to establish a visual hierarchy clearly distinguishing between menus, devices, functions, and environmental controls. It is our custom to use a “progression hierarchy” or “menu” driven layout based on the Dashboard for Controls guidelines.
